The advantages of cycloid reducer are:
1. Small size and light weight. The planetary transmission structure is widely adopted, so the structure is compact. Compared with the ordinary gear reducer of the same power, the volume and weight can be reduced by 1/2 to 2/3.
2. Large transmission ratio range. At present, the single-stage transmission ratio produced in my country is i=11~87: the second-stage transmission ratio is i=121-5133; the third-stage transmission ratio can reach i=20339; it can reach higher according to needs. 3. High transmission efficiency. The efficiency of single-stage transmission can reach 0.9~0.97.
4. It runs smoothly, without noise, and has a large overload capacity and strong impact resistance. Due to the large number of teeth meshing at the same time, in theory there are half of the teeth meshing, so there will be these superior performance.
5. Long service life. Because all contact parts are rolling friction, it has a long service life. Compared with ordinary reducers, the service life is 2~3 times longer.

The shortcomings and shortcomings of the cycloid reducer are as follows:
1. Main parts such as cycloidal gear, pin tooth pin, pin tooth sleeve, pin and pin sleeve are all made of GCrl5 bearing steel with better material, and some parts require high manufacturing precision and complex manufacturing process.
2. The swing arm bearing is subject to greater force and the speed is slightly higher than that of the high-speed shaft. Therefore, the swing-arm bearing is the weak link of the reducer, which limits the speed and transmitted power of the high-speed shaft; the speed of the general high-speed shaft is Nh≤1500 ~1800 rpm, the current maximum power has exceeded 100 kilowatts.
However, these shortcomings will gradually be overcome with the continuous improvement in technology and the improvement of bearing performance. Cycloidal pinwheel reducers can replace ordinary gear reducers and worm gear reducers of two and three levels in many cases, and have been widely used in equipment in the national defense, mining, metallurgy, chemical, textile and other industrial sectors.
